SODIUM CHLORITE NAClO2
Precursor for the in situ production of a biocide (chlorine dioxide), for exclusive use in the potabilisation and disinfection of water for human or animal consumption. Precursor included in art. 95 of EU Regulation 528/2012 on biocidal products.
COMPOSITION
Aqueous solution of sodium chlorite NaCIO2 at 25%, precursor substance of a biocide (chlorine dioxide) obtained in situ by acidification with ACTIVATOR HCL 4%.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE
For drinking water disinfection:
One drop of Activator HCl is used for each drop of Sodium Chlorite (1:1) Dose 2 drops of sodium chlorite and 2 drops of activator for each litre of water to be treated, in a dry (non-metallic) container regardless of the number of activated drops.
Wait about 45 seconds until a golden amber colour is obtained.
The mixture needs to be diluted with water afterwards. Add water (>150 ml) to stabilise the activated solution as soon as possible. The bright yellow colour indicates the degree of saturation of the CIO2 gas which evaporates over time.
This yellowish solution should be diluted in the water to be treated as soon as possible to ensure maximum effectiveness, and left to act for at least 30 minutes.
This yellowish solution should be diluted in the water to be treated as soon as possible to ensure maximum effectiveness, and left to act for at least 30 minutes. The amount of product to be dosed and the exposure time will always depend on the quality of the water to be treated. Use with caution, always read labels and product information. Store in a cool, dry place in an upright position.
Do not expose to sunlight to avoid degradation. It is not necessary to keep the containers in the refrigerator at reasonable temperatures when the ambient temperature is below 22-24°C.
For disinfection of surfaces and tools in the food industry and other areas of private life:
Mix in equal parts, in a clean, dry (non-metallic) beaker, 25 ml of Sodium Chlorite Solution NaClO2 (25%) and 25 ml of Activator HCl (4%), wait for 45-60 secs.
Dilute the mixture in 5-10L of water, depending on the level of soiling, in a closed container.
In a ventilated place, apply this dilution on the surfaces by means of a cloth or mop, or by immersion of the tool.
Leave to act for at least 5 min. and then rinse with plenty of water before use.
CHARACTERISTICS
The bottle contains 1 l Sodium chlorite 25% concentrated solution Very high quality and purity. Sodium chlorite should never be used alone. It should always be activated with a safe acid such as HCL 4%.
Mixing equal parts of sodium chlorite with an acid generates the biocidal disinfectant substance chlorine dioxide.
140 ml opaque bottle, to preserve all its quality and optimal conservation.
It is very important to note that exposing the contents to ultraviolet light deteriorates the product.
HAZARD STATEMENTS SODIUM CHLORITE
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and information on the biocidal product before use.
Acute Tox. 4: H302 – Harmful if swallowed Aquatic Chronic 1: H410 – Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Eye Dam. 1: H318 – Causes serious eye damage Met. Corr. 1: H290 – May be corrosive to metals STOT RE 2: H373 – May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (Oral) EUH032: Contact with acids liberates very toxic gas.
Typographical error: we are aware of a typographical error in several batches sold of the product sodium chlorite where by printing error NaClO appears instead of NaClO2. The error has been corrected.
